If you've ever spent a Saturday in the Magic Kingdom, none of this will seem ridiculous to you.
My family just joined Disney Vacation Club! I’m excited to plan our first trip with my daughter. We haven’t even gotten access to the member site yet, but I couldn’t wait to start looking at dates.
I had a ridiculous priority: I wanted our day off to land on Saturday so we could avoid spending that day in a park. Comparing arrival dates, trip lengths, and point costs to make that happen was enough of a puzzle that I built a tool for it.
Once it worked for my particular concern, I added things I thought other people would find useful: comparing resorts and rooms, adjusting stay lengths and rest days, and sharing a comparison with someone else.
The DVC Resort & Stay Planner uses the 2026 and 2027 point charts to help compare your options. It doesn’t check room availability, but it can help narrow down the dates and stays you want to look for.
Making this has been a fun way to get started while I wait for member access. I’m looking forward to sitting down and figuring out our first trip together.
If it helps with your planning too, I’d be happy to hear it. And if you know someone who might find it useful, please pass it along.
For anyone interested in the code, it’s open source on GitHub.
